Why Han's World Class

We Are a Black Belt School.

When a student enrolls at our academy, we don't wonder how far they'll go — we ask how we'll ensure they graduate. Grandmaster Kyeong S. Han, a 7th Dan Black Belt, founded HWCTA in 2000 on 40+ years of martial arts lineage that began in South Korea. Today his son, Master Matthew Han, leads a no-contracts, family-oriented school where traditional philosophy meets modern instruction.

ADHD-Friendly

Regularly recommended by child therapists, school counselors, and children's education professionals.

Bully-Proof Confidence

Students learn to defend themselves physically — and to use their voice to stand up for themselves.

Kukkiwon-Certified Path

Black belt ranks certified by the world governing body of Taekwondo in Seoul — recognized for life, anywhere.

Family Culture

Parents train on the mat with their kids ages 4–12, plus monthly parent workshops. No contracts, no gimmicks.

“BKA have been nothing but welcoming and treated me like family.”

I’ve been coming here for two months now training in Kali and Muay Thai. At 49 (and 2 months before my 50th birthday) the classes have challenged my conditioning and pushed me to be in my best condition. Everyone has been motivational, inspirational, and encouraging and I have found my new home… Come get this work! I’m proof that you’re never too old to learn something new.

"My daughter was the kid hiding behind my leg at every birthday party. Eight months at Han's and she's leading warm-ups in front of the whole class. The instructors didn't just teach her kicks — they taught her to use her voice. Her teacher even asked us what changed."

— Parent of a Basics student, Orchards

"Our son's occupational therapist actually recommended Han's by name. He has ADHD, and we'd tried soccer, swimming, everything — nothing stuck. The structure here is different. He knows exactly what's expected, he gets constant encouragement, and his focus has carried over into homework. His teacher noticed before we told her he'd started."

— HWCTA parents, Brush Prairie

"I signed my kids up and planned to watch from the chairs. Master Han talked me onto the mat instead — now it's the one thing our whole family does together, twice a week, no phones. No contracts, no pressure, just a school that genuinely cares whether your kids become good people. We've been here three years and we're not going anywhere until we're all black belts."

FAQs

Common questions from vancouver families

Serving the Orchards, Five Corners, Brush Prairie, Sifton, Fishers Landing, and Hockinson areas since 2000.

  • Is Han's World Class Taekwondo good for beginners?

Yes — Taekwondo is a great way to start the process for any activity. We focus on building each student's self-confidence and teaching the Tenets of Taekwondo, with Respect and Focus as core life skills that translate to any future activity. We consistently hear great things about our students who move on to other pursuits after their black belt.

  • What age can my child start?

Students can start at 4 years old — and we have students training with us who are nearly 60. Every class at HWCTA is offered as a family program, and we highly recommend parents get on the mat with their kids ages 4–12.

  • Is martial arts good for kids with ADHD or focus issues?

Martial arts is great for kids with ADHD or focus challenges — we're commonly recommended by child therapists, school guidance counselors, and other professionals in children's education. Like anything, it takes time, but we've seen amazing results over nearly 30 years in the Vancouver area.

  • What is the 3 Weeks for $69 web special?

After your free complimentary trial class, our extended trial is $69 for 3 weeks and includes a uniform. If you love it, we'll sit down with our manager to talk programming — no contracts, no gimmicks, no cancellation penalties. Ever.

  • Where are you located and is there parking?

We're at 13501 NE 84th St, Vancouver, WA 98682 — in the Padden Market Center near Heritage High School, Padden Parkway, and 84th St. There's plenty of parking in the shopping center.

  • How long does it take to earn a black belt?

On average, most students take 3–4 years to earn a black belt — though extraordinary students always rise to the challenge. Our black belts are officially certified by the Kukkiwon, so your rank is internationally recognized for life.
